Adventures outside of Cannonville, Ut. Oh and inside the town too!!

Hi All,These are such incredible mountains, and such a pretty color.  So we decided to pull into the little town of Cannonville, UT.  We stopped at the visitor center to find out about the campground a little ways away, Cindy stayed behind  to continue her visit, and Bob told her to meet us at the next Visitors Center, we lost her, there was Visitors Center at the campground and another 30 or so miles away.  When she didn't come, we went looking for her, bless her heart, she had gone to the one farthest away.  By the time we connected, no cell service, so Bob had gone to the KOA campground and used their phone to call a friend of theirs to contact Cindy, anyway, when we did connect, it was late, so both of us parked our rigs on the street, ate dinner and went to bed.  The next morning the very unpleasant man at the Cannonville, UT. visitors center knocked on our door and said, "This is a visitors center, NOT a campground, you had no right to park here"  when I said we had asked the nice folks at the Motel if it would bother anyone to park on the street, he said "I'm in charge here, you should have asked me!!!"  Well, needless to say, that continued on until the Sheriff was called, it all worked out, we moved on to the Motel parking lot, nice folks, and headed out anyway.  The people of Cannonville, Utah are wonderful, but BEWARE if you park on the street in front of the Visitors Center in your RV!
Here we go!
This was our starter.........
Got to where we wanted to see the double Arches, and parked...............
Isn't this incredible?  If you look close you will see the double arch, it is worth the drive out of Cannonville.
Here I am, leaning against the coolest rock!  I love to just touch them, some are smooth as silk, others rough & bumpy!
Another picture from a slightly different angle.
There is Sweet William!
Here comes Cindy Mc., and I think Bob Mc. is looking through binoculars.
Just a view of the mountain, you will find I do this more in the next few blogs, there is so much to see, and these pictures don't do it justice!!
After touching the wall where you saw me, I walked only a few feet and here is this weird rock, all pebbly and rough, awesome!
Then we headed on up the road, loved this tree.
Look at the design on this one, really different................
Bob Mc. said it had veins to make it grow bigger, ya right goober!!  It is really unique, isn't it?
Bill and Bob had found a road on the map they wanted to follow, hoping to find another road that lead into the next town, so, we went up, up, up,..................
and up,
Cindy had just taken a picture of Bob going over this crevice, that is why she is walking in the picture above,
There it is, and if Bob can do it in his jeep, I can do it in my Suzuki,soooo.......... OVER we went, and over quite a few more, till we were up as far as we could go, and the road was all rock.  Bill decided not to put our Suzuki through anymore torture, and it was getting late...........
and starting to SNOW, so we turned around and headed back down, over the same holes, arggggggg, but surprisingly enough, it was easier going back, except for one thing, Bob and Cindy Mc. were low on fuel, fumes, actually, so we made a bee~line after we got past the hard stuff.  Met a guy on the way down that asked our names and if we had our rig parked at the motel.......??
Only tore up the Suzuki a little, WAAAaaaaaaaaaaaa, but Bill said he could fix it, so OK.  What we didn't know until we were half way down, was that half the town were on their way up looking for us.  Bill had told the guy at the Motel we would be back around 2pm, it was 7:30pm! They had lost some people up there last year, so they were waiting another half hour and were gona do a big search!  Wow, never had people come lookin' for us before, made us feel bad that we took so long.  One fella couldn't believe we got our Suzuki past what they call "the gut",  He said they would probably have stopped the search there, because "No one gets past there!  Well, those of you who know us, we  will try anything once.  Just glad we got down before they started their search.
Our thanks to the people of Cannonville, Utah, we will be back to visit your nice little town, but NOT the visitors center, thank you.
Both couples got in their buses and headed out of there, Pronto, and went as far as this sign, where we parked for the night!
Bob Mc. added his rock to the pile, and we were on out way again.  Onward to Escalante, UT.
Outside of Escalante we found some BLM land to park on whiles we looked around.
We got parked next to each other.............
Lookin' good, right?
And watched the sun go down and the stars come out, what more can one ask for?
What we do next is on the next blog, lots of fun, not as wild as this one tho, thank the good Lord!
Until next time, Be Happy, Hugs, Prayers and Smiles to all, Arlette & Bill too, and the Unhappy Sassy, she hates bumpy roads!
