Taking a day off (?) heading for Oatman, AZ.

We headed for Oatman, AZ, and low and behold, Bob saw a gold nugget along side of the road, so he stopped, picked it up,"ooff", and was gona take it home.
Cindy said"wait, wait, I have to take a picture of our very first nugget", soooooo..........
Bob posed, pretty good sized nugget, huh?  Nope, it was just a huge piece of foam, sorry Bob, that's the way life goes!
A little disapointed, but ready to go, we once again headed for Oatman, yessir thar she is!
We were told there were real, wild burros, no signs about it anywhere, just the real deal, awesome!
We noticed that there were real houses there, lotz of them up on the hills above the town, this little chalet is all ready for snow!!  Heh, Heh, what do ya think Darlene, would this work around Meacham???

We got there just in time to witness a bank robbery  by some pretty dumb cowboys, although they did get the money, then one of the guys decided he wanted all the money and didn't want to share, OH OH, soooooooo......
YIKES.... Greed will do that to you, the guy that got the money gave it to his gal to hold, and they were gona run away together, right, kind of a dummy he is! I guess I said that before, huh?
Cause his gal shot HIM, and took off with the money herself!  OOOooh, what a rotten deal!
As you can see, it doesn't pay to get greedy and think you can get away with it, well, at least the fellas didn't!!
After all that gunfightin' we were powerful hungry, so headed into a local restaurant.Had ordered and was chompin' on my Quesadilla, when I looked up and saw this poor fella, guess he chose the wrong bull to ride that day, an odd thing to see when you are eatin', but,  this is Oatman, and they even had a singing deer head in another corner, totally cool, loved it!
Was just watchin' everything that went on when I heard a fellow tell these folks to be careful of the burros, if you don't have feed for 'em, they will sometimes bite or kick you!  AWww, can't believe that, they are so cute, but guess it is true.
This guy was great, he was a one man band!  He pulled a little wagon, and had a washboard, harmonica, whistle, & small cymbles, and was really enjoying himself.  He was pretty good too!
And then I spied him, there he stood, it was DONK from the movie Shrek, he had come to Oatman to visit his kin, so I strolled up to him and said "Hi Donk, I'm so glad to see you", and gave him a hug, some of the folks thought I was a bit daft, and they are right, I am, but it was fun! This lady was a for real lady. Her family was coming west, and while in the prosess of helping his wife deliver another child, her father didn't see the Apaches until it was to late, they killed everyone except Olive and her Sister Mary, and later traded Olive to the Mohave Indians.  She was tattooed as is their custom, by making cuts in her chin and arms, and filling the cuts with charcoal. OUCH!!  A pioneer family found her by a creek, and Olive was so scared she buried herself in the sand.  I guess she never really adjusted to being a white woman and tried many times to go back to the Mohaves and her husband. Can't say as I blame her, she was young, and they were her family!
There were regular houses there too, gotta have a lot of folks to run all the cool things they do in Oatman, if you get a chance, go there, it is more than worth the trip, this is our 2nd time there!
We headed back toward home, and along side the road in the mt. side was this door, so we stopped, Bill telling me to move the car if need be, he took my camera and here is what he saw...........
He said that it went back a loooong way, and was a big hole, but didn't know exactly what it was. amazing tho.
We stopped at a roadside pull off and Bill and Bob went to look, it looked like a wife had gotten angry with her husband and threw his clothes over the cliff!  There were a ton of clothes everywhere, and in looking, they also saw an old car, it was so battered it was hard to tell the make, but they thought it was an old Chrysler. Whoa, that was a long way down, for sure!!
And here is the reason we are out here, we have such a beautiful country, and Bill and I never get tired of seeing what God has made.  I would love for all of you to be able to come with us, it would be so fun, and we would have a crazy time every day!!!
We passed this guy, and he was a bit angry about it, didn't like the look of us or our car, but our little Sassy gave as good as she got, she just yapped and yapped, saying " come on big boy, I'm ready, I'll grab that throat of yours and toss you in the ditch!"  She couldn't of course but she wanted to try!  soooo cute!
Well folks, that's it for this one, keep on comin' back, there is more, LOTZ more!   Prayers, hugs and love from: Arlette & Bill too, and the ferocious Sassy girl!
