On our way home from Oatman we happened on to this little, use to be, gas station, it was really cute, and as we inquired, we found out its name was .'Cool Springs'
It was really cute, so stopped in to find out a little about it. Seems it started as a gas station in 1926, it had added some cottages, a restaurant and a bar by 1942. When the new highway opened in 1953, that sorta settled it for the place, and it went down hill fast. Most of the place fell into ruins when they used it to film the movie "Universal Solder",and vandals didn't help either. Soon it all burned down except for a small portion of the station. A fella from Chicago bought it and has restored the station, it is now a gift shop. I understand other plans are in the works as well. Hope so, it was a really cool place! Get it, "COOL SPRINGS" (grin)
Of course you know what Sweet William liked, the old gas pumps of course, after all, he is an old gas jockey ya know!We finally got home, and Flat Stanley went for a little walk, and next thing ya know a friend came and had a bit of lunch with him! Well, have to admit, it took the "friend" almost an hour to finally take the bait, but isn't it just the cutest???
Not only did Stanley have a friend visit, but parked right beside us was a GMC 4104, just like Bob and Cindys, only it had and incredible Eagle on one side, how cool is that. The bus belonged to Wayne, He painted the Eagle himself, and also the other side I will show you later. That's what he does! Beautiful work!
Now Bob, not to be outdone, had Bill help him mount these horns, and believe you me, when he uses them you hear them all over. Cindy and I about jumped out of our skin the first time He sounded off, but they are AWESOME, we discussed the fact that he needed to very careful where he used them, haha!
And here is Wayne and his girl Lucy, she is just a pup, and is learning to travel with Wayne who lost his wife last year. Quite a pair!
Not only did they get the horns on, and working, they finished the stairway, YEE~HAW, ain't they just the purtiest thangs ya ever saw! Good job fellas, good job.
'Member I told ya Cindy and I went shopping?, well this is one of the things she bought, I just thought it was cool and everyone should take a gander!
This is Waynes tow car, and below is the other side of his bus.....................
Because his wife loved Unicorns, he put one on the other side for her, now that is true love, right? right!
Now Bob & Cindy have running water, even clean~up water, Whody doesn't even have that, and...................
They can also use the facilities in a park without leaving their bay doors open, thanks to Sweet William, now that, Whody does have.
Well now it is time to bid a sad fare thee well to our friends, they are headed back to Tucson and we are headed for Bullhead City! See ya again my friends, sniff, sniff! Bye,Bye
As we bid them a sad adieu, we also say goodbye to you, Hugs, love and Prayers, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
OOPS, well, there is a sign, ya know like "here's your sign"! (snicker) forgot this last picure, sorry!
