Quartzsite Bus Rally

This sums it up, that's for sure, we loved this, it was on an Eagle bus at our rally.

The first of the week it started to rain hard, we had just come out of the big tent, one that sells everything imaginable, for a lot more than you could buy it anywhere else, but of course they tell you they are giving you a bargain, turned to our left, Shazam!!!!!!!!!! the water was starting to go across the road, and we were a little intimidated, but headed across anyway, one hour later they had the whole road blocked off, the big tent was flooded, the poor vendors, some were standing ankle deep in water, but troopers that they were, just kept on selling!

Had dinner, got back to camp, and about 9pm a fella knocked on our door and told us to get ready to evacuate, the canal in front of Whody was starting to over flow, the 2 main entrances were already washed out, and we would have to go out the back way, sooooo...We fired up Whody, all ready to get out of dodge, looked across the canal, and our friends Bob & Cindy's bus had water up under the wheels, and they were all fired up ready to go. The three holes you see are the underpass of the road overhead, and earlier that day we had walked through there to some of the vendors booths, decided an evening stroll was sort of out of the question. Found out later that the folks across the street had, for some odd reason, dug a reservoir, didn't shore it up properly, and that is what flooded our side. I TOLD you we had some exciting times! We didn't have to move out, the water reseeded, and we were fine, by noon the next day the campground had both of the roads fixed and life went on as usual.

This was taken right in front of Whody, a bit unnerving, but we were ready to evacuate! You can see Bob & Cindys bus on the other side, YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a pretty bus, an Eagle 05, Whody is an 01. They stopped making 01s in 1968.

This is a Crown bus, built in the 50's, and was in primo condition! It was decorated in the decor of the period and was beautiful. Hoppy, you would have had the time of your life looking at all these buses, all are open for viewing, it was great!

Here are our friends, Bob and Karen, they have an Eagle they call the Dragon Fly, it is a pretty green with dragonflies all over it, and their tow car matches. It got it's name because Bob says it "Drags up the hills, and Flys down 'em" thus the name.

This is a newer Eagle, a 15, and was by far the most exquisite bus on the lot. The craftsman ship was something to see, but we still love Whody the best!

This is what they call a 'buffalo' bus, It is a GM, I liked them and the Scenic cruiser, on the left is an MCI, on the right is a Prevost.

And this is Rocket, she belongs to 2 young kids who are working their way across the USA, she is fueled with salad oil from restaurants. Shades of Willy Nelson. It is an International, and wasn't allowed to park on our side because she has a big nose. Talk about discrimination!! What an interesting bus, a true hippy bus, with 3 cats and writing on the windows and everything!

We had entertainment on Saturday night, and this little boy was so cute, he sat there almost an hour like that and just watched, he was soo good. Mom headed him to bed, and he cried the whole way, but went without a fuss, just tears streaming down his little face.

This was one of the highlights of our journey because we love buses, no matter what kind they are. Every one has their own personality, and they suit the owners to a tea. We are all in and out of each others buses like we have been friends forever, then we all leave and most of the time don't see each other until the next Rally. It is great to make friends on the go, because you never know where you will see them again!

Only 2 more blogs, then the real adventure starts, you'll see! Love to ya all, Arlette & Bill too, and the happy Sassy, she gets to go around sniffing all the other dogs that travel!
