San Juan Capistrano and the Swallows #2

Hi, now here is the reason I wanted to come to this  amazing town, you see, every year around March 19th, the swallows send their "scouts" ahead to clear the way for the annual return of all the swallows.  Ya see, these little birds remembered just where they lived in October , the 23rd, when they left sooooo..................(keep reading)
This is a picture of the Mission, it is now a museum, pretty as a picture, there are some signs for you to read below, so get out your magnifying glasses, and get started!
We stopped here and got the real story of those amazing birds.
"here's your signs" snicker
This is where the little swallows build their nests, in the old stone church that was two stories high until the earthquake of 1812 left it exposed, they then raise their little ones and get them ready to once again fly back to Argentina for the winter, and all make the return trip back here the next March.  That has always amazed me, and although I won't get to see them actually come back, at least I got to see the place and hear the story!
You are looking at one of the older places we saw whiles there, pretty cool. This beautiful stone bench was over in the corner, I thought it was pretty unique, a great place to relax in the evenings, don't ya think?
Look like your uncle Fred,or big mouth Auntie?  (Just kiddin', honest)
Then we headed home, and Bob & Cindy treated us to yummy fish and chips at a reasonable price.  I took a picture of the drawings inside the buildings.  Just look at the expressions on each face. Someone really did their homework!!!
When we finished dinner we came out and were treated to a few Christmas boat lights, it was beautiful to see the reflexions on the water.
It was a great day, and who knows, maybe I will be here in March when the swallows come home, or in Oct. when they start their long journey back to Argentina, I would love it.  Guess this is one thing I can scratch off my bucket list, so need to start looking for the next thing, whatever it may be!!!
For now, I'm making like a swallow and flying away, but I will be back, hopefully before March, to share another piece of our travels.  Prayers, Hugs and Love to all you bird lovers, and well, even to those who aren't! Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
