Hey, can you believe I finally get the pictures to go on, am use to them going on backwards, this time they go on the correct way, what can I say???? This is grain, going down the hopper and being ground up to flour, and it was really fine.(the flour) We are at Mt.Vernon, good old George Washingtons home. This is the old Mill,(grain) some days they make flour, some days they make cornmeal. It is located about 3miles from Mt.Vernon. It was pretty cool, all gear and old belt driven, Mr Bill was in heaven!!Now I am hear to tell you, ole George could lie, #1, he did NOT throw a coin across the Potomac River, look for yourself, NOBODY could have an arm like that, come on, get real!!! 2nd, his teeth were NOT made of wood, they were made out of animal teeth and wire, and they were so ugly, I wouldn't have smiled either! They wouldn't let anyone take a picture, can't says I blame 'em!Here lies George and wife, quite a shrine, and here is part of the house called Mt.Vernon, this is actually the kitchen, sorry put on the wrong picture. But....Lie #3, his house is NOT made of stone, it was made of wood, he had each board bevelled, painted white, and whiles the paint was still wet they through sand on it. Sure was a pretty place tho., sorry, no pictures allowed inside. This was the smoke house where they made those wonderful Virginia Hams, it still smelled good to me! Wouldn't ya know I would send 2 pictures of food places! Back to the point...This was always done in the winter and this room was very full all the time! This last picture was taken from the front porch of the main house, what a view they had, Bill and I went down the Potomac on a little cruise, saw an old fort and a really pretty bridge, and it was a lot cooler, but glad we didn't pay a lot, they went down, maybe a mile or so, turned around in the middle of the river and came back. We were both hot from standing for almost an hour just to get into the house, so it was nice! Well, I know this is small, but trying not to put so many pictures on and keep it short and sweet.. Do you know how hard that is for me? Love to you all, Hugs and prayers, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy.
