This one is actually a Russian plane, it was used against us in the Korean & VietNam wars. Pretty mean looking if you ask me!
This was a B17G, a fighting fortress called 'Sentimental Journey' and what a beauty! They are still working on her as you can see. She held quite a few men, and had a blond painted on one side, a brunette on the other, HEY, how come no redheads?? Oh well, they did good in the war anyway, and I am sure a lot of them came back to their ladies safely, while others didn't.
You were allowed in the B17 if you chose to go, Bill chose to go, but told me it was pretty narrow in there, so I backed away, all I needed was to get my tiny hiney stuck and then have my claustrophobia click in, don't even want to think about it! It would NOT have been pretty, I assure you. Here he is in the cockpit grinnin' like a Cheshire cat and lovin' it!
I did go in, but in the back way, lotz easier, (and more spacious) the first thing I came to was this big old machine gun, guess that is what they were called. It sure looked ready for action! Saw no seat so guess you had to stand up to fire WOW, can you imagine? I can't!!
OOPS... don't know where this picture came from, but there is a lot of ' just desert', and as you can see, my "chocolate mountains", YUMMY!!
They have sooo many pretty things by the freeways here, guess it is because there is very little rain, and people need something pretty to look at when they are in all this blasted traffic. Well, that's all folks, it turned out to be a really short day, but a fun day anyhoo. Tomorrow we head up to a cool National Park, so come on along..........we will have lotz to show you, you know me and pictures, and of course I do love to talk as well, NAW, not me. Until next time, keep your plane right side up and a smile on your face! Smiles, Prayers and Love, Arlette & Bill too, and the pouty Sassy, she had to stay home, to hot!
