Thank ya, Aah, Thank ya vary much......

Well here we are in Tupelo, Miss. the birthplace of Elvis Presley. We didn't pay to go into the museum because I was quite an Elvis Fan, and know quite a lot about him, but did tour the grounds, looked into the house, it costs to go in, so didn't. Also went to the Lake campground that Elvis bought from his first concert, he bought it so that little kids in Tupelo would have a place to play. Were quite disappointed with the campground, although the place was beautiful, it was not well maintained, and was a ways off the beaten track, no kids could get there without a parent to take them.

And here my friends you have a REDNECK SQARELL FEEDAR. Thought this was so funny and unique, just had to take a picture and put it on for all to see.

There is Elvis everything here, it is quite a business and anything pertaining to Him costs plenty.

This a picture of the Elvis Presley Lake, it looks like at one time it was nice, and they have a lot of these "fishin' areas", but only a few are now usable.
This is a car that is as near what folks remembered, that Elvis's folks had when they lived in Tupelo, after reading the History of the family, I rather doubt it was really in this nice of shape.

This sign was at the entry way to the museum, and gift shop. The house below, known as a "shotgun house", cause you could open the front and back door, and shoot a shotgun straight through, was where Elvis was born, again, I doubt that it was "spiffied up" like this when they actually lived in it, but it was quite cosy. It cost $8 each to go through the museum and the house, so we passed on it. Will probably go to Memphis and see Graceland tho.

As in the Owen Dunn museum, this house was moved to this spot.

These signs were all over Tupelo, as were the MLK signs. Sometimes made you wonder where you were!

Next we went to the Tupelo Car Museum. A note: every museum or gift shop we stopped at the folks looked like they had been eatin' sour pickles, they were cordial, but no smiles, no friendly words, now in the stores and on the streets and campgrounds people were super friendly. Guess the other folks didn't like their jobs very, well,HUH!!
I have put a few of the really cool cars on, I thought they were cool anyway, but didn't write down the names, so if any of you remember them, that's great! Enjoy!!

"I'll be down to getcha in a Taxi honey...." Isn't this just the coolest? I can just see a feller pickin' up his lady in the flapper days and goin' out on the town.

Bill wanted to buy this one, said He would make a place under Whody for it, and just think of all the money we would save.... YA RIGHT,it looks like a little animated car with 2 eyes a nose and a mustache, cute as could be, and thank God, not for sale!!!!!

This was the famous 'Tucker', Bill remembers seeing one of these when he was a kid, and he thought is was soo cool, he loves the oddest lookin' things, look who he married! (Snicker)

Like a lot of young folks, this was the car that Bill and I dreamed of having one day, it is an Avanti, I still think it's cool, but the desire to own one has long since disappeared!!

Being in Elvis territory, had to take this picture, the car was never owned by Elvis himself, but was given to one of his "Entourage". He did this a lot I guess, buying cars to just give away. Nice of him.

How we use to LOVE those big boats, at least they had some style, unlike most cars today!!

And these last few pictures I took mainly for our daughter
Donna, and son-in-law, Al, this is their dream car. Note the amount of miles on this car, and that the seats are still covered with plastic. Really a pretty car, and pretty fast, too.

Eat your hearts out kids, it was a REAL beauty.

Well, this was a rather small blog, but wait until the next 2, they are enormous, Sorry Bill, lotz of pictures. Then I may be caught up and do one each day. There is just so much history in this part of the country that I want to share all I can with you, If you get bored, let me know and I will cut it down a bit, actually, compared to all the pictures I have taken, I HAVE cut it down, more then half! Soo...................... Till next time, Love, Hugs, Prayers & Smiles, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
