This little guy was digging around in the ground, and it looks like he found a nut too. This was at our campground in Tupelo,Miss.
HELLO......Couldn't help taking this picture of a redheaded woodpecker, They are such beautiful birds, and this guy kept peeking up at me, had to take his picture!
This is the only example of a flat boat thatI could find, they were floated down the Mississippi River, torn apart and used to build what ever, and to get back home, folks had to walk, ride horses or use buggys.
This place was really cool. Bill walked down in the cave, and if you look close, Sassy wants to go with him, but she has picked a very steep grade, much to steep for her, and Bill is watching to make sure she didn't jump, the little gooney bird!!

I'm comin', wait for me.............
Yes, we did get to Alabama, for at least a while, the Trace goes through the corner.
Alabama has ROCK, have hardly seen anything but a few hills and lotz of gravel, and these looked wonderful to me, go figure!!!!
Here you see Sassy playing with a butterfly. It was quite hot out and she was panting. No, she didn't hurt it, just played very gently with it for a while, then walked away!!
Although the ferry isn't running, you could just imagine how much work it was to get across a river that was approx. a mile wide!
NOW: There is this beautiful bridge, it seems to go on forever and it does, for almost a mile and a half.
We actually walked down this path and tried to put ourselves in these folks spot, we got maybe some of the bugs, a little of the swamp, but not the snakes or spiders or thieves, (thank you Lord), We just couldn't begin to understand, because we are to spoiled!!
Back to the Flora & Fauna, isn't this pretty?
We stopped at this rest area and found a really cool stream, Sassy hopped right in! Sure shocked us, she usually hates water, but it was quite hot and we had taken quite a walk, she wanted cooled down!!!!
This was a place where you could actually drive on the Trace, but Bill didn't want to unhook the car so we passed on it for this time anyway, who knows? We may be back someday!
Just loved the bark on this tree, don't know what kind it is, just thought it was awful pretty!
All you folks should know these 2 guys, It's Lewis & Clark of the Oregon fame.
Meriwether Lewis died at the age of 35 of a self inflicted gun shot. They thought perhaps he had been cleaning his gun, and you know back then you couldn't run to an Emergency Room like you can today.
I had to tell you about this place because it was called the "SHEBOSS" stand. It was owned by widow Cranfield, who had married an indian who spoke little english, so when someone came to stay, he would just point at her and say "SHE BOSS"!
This is a Tobacco Farm, although they don't use this barn, they still grow tobacco here, it was really interesting to view the tobacco hanging in the barn. Didn't have any idea that they did it this way!
Although this is pretty sad looking, it was quite interesting. They said that the weather was what made or messed up a crop, nice breezes were the best.
This was the last house we saw on the Trace, and you can read the story.
Good Looking house, and well preserved, don't ya think?? We were there at the wrong time for it to be open, and it was closed up TIGHT!!!!
Last thing we saw before we left the trace was these wild turkeys, pretty cool!
And here it is, THE END of the Trace, but not of our journey, as you will see below. It was really kinda sad because the History and beauty was amazing, and the slow pace made it very special!
We stopped off the side of the road in Nashville to let traffic pass us, and I got out because I had seen these guys, but didn't expect them to come running! They were right on the road and I was so afraid they would get run over. Cute tho, Huh?
I kinda shoo'd them, and this guy headed for MaMa,I was glad because she led them back in the grass.
This is our campground in Lebanon, Tn, and the kind of clientele it caters to. This was driven by a woman, and all I could count were 3 kids. Takes all kinds to make a world doesn't it!!

We are still at this camp~ground, it only costs us $12.50 a night, and we are only here to sleep and eat dinner, so that is fine with us. The one nearest the Opry house is over $50. a night, I DON"T THINK SO!!!!! Not cheap, just smart I'd say!!
Well folks, enough for now, the next blog I haven't even put the pictures on yet because I probably would have stayed up all night to do it. See ya next time, and all you Country fans get ready, it is Nashville,Tn. Love, Hugs and Prayers to all of you, Arlette & Bill too, and the pouty Sassy
