Tonight ve valk vith the dead, eh? I vas tolt not to go to dis grave yard, couldn't help myself! Just kidding, it was so much fun. A couple of the gals I have met said not to go, it was sooo depressing, but Bill & I found it quite humorous really. Most of the markers are quite self explanatory, but a few I will tell you about. 1)Frank Bowles, His horse got scared , threw him off, caused his rifle to discharge and badly injured his knee. He laid in camp for several weeks, and when they took him in to have his leg amputated, it was to late! The Ding Dong!! (2)Made me sad, Eva Waters, 3mo. She had Scarlet fever. (3)Billy Clanton and the 2 McLaury boys were gunned down at the OK Corral shoot by Doc Holliday and the Earp bros. (4)Mrs. Stump, another sad story, she was given to much chloroform during childbirth, guess she should have had it naturally, I didn't know they did chloroform back then for childbirth! Ya learn something new everyday!(5) Foo Kee, owned a grocery store in Tombstone, and died of ptomaine poisoning! Wonder what was on his shelves??? There were so many more, some shot or knifed, others killed by their own partner over mining claims, and of course many killed by Indians! Doesn't sound to different from today, does it?
Boot Hill was on the side of a hill and overlooked the whole valley, as pictured, and Over 80% of these people were killed or died from 1880 to 1882-3, Bill laughed and said it was all fake, but the brochure told how each one was discovered and the story behind them. Some had family that remembered, others were remembered by old folks that have always lived in Tombstone. It looked a lot like the Prison grave yard in Yuma. The bodies were covered with rocks. I know, I'm weird, but I do like Graveyards and the stories they tell. I did not see any whole families, and in some of the pioneer Cemetery's there are many.
Well folks gona get outta here for now, had a long day, and you will find out about that tomorrow. Am worn out and so is Bill, having so much fun is sure tiring!!
Love and smiles to all, wish you were here to see all the incredible things we are seeing, I don't even put 1/2 of the pictures on the blog, and no way can I put the smells, sounds, and just the beauty of these states. I do the best I can and hope you all enjoy!Prayers, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
