HI! Bet you thought we were gonners by now, NOPE...... Have been so busy with our friend Carol, and have been in and out of Mexico several times to boot! Wow, what an incredible place, not where I would chose to live, but drugs are so cheap down there, even my insulin was $50 to 75 cheaper than a prescription, and it is made in Mexico. It helps to have someone to tell us where the good pharmacies are, and boy do you need help! I still can't put pictures on, but let me tell you, there are probably 5 pharmacies, and Dentists on each block, with fellows giving out paper discounts and doing everything they can to get you to go in, there are people in the streets trying to sell you everything from chicklets (gum) for 25cents, to whistles, purses marionettes, earrings, just about everything you would need, from children 5-6yrs. old, to people at least 80 or more. I went looking for phenobarbital for Sassy, for those who don't know, our dog has epilepsy, and I could even buy that over the counter,(scary, huh?), but the dosage was so large I wasn't sure I could give her the correct amt., so passed it up, I'm dopey enough, don't need a dopey doggie too!! If you show any interest at all , the "sellers" are on you like the mosquitoes I told you about last time. I did buy a few things, 2 cute outfits, one is a skirt and blouse, the other is a pants outfit, and one pretty blouse, a few pairs of earrings, (like I really needed any more), but dadburnit they were so pretty and cheap, oops, INEXPENSIVE, sorry, I just couldn't pass them up! We also ate lunch a couple of times at a place called "Angels", if you are smart you do not eat on the street, I had what they call mineasa, not sure I spelled it right, not a mexamerican, but it is a lot like chicken fried steak, only the breading is much lighter, it is wonderful, and of course it comes with rice and beans. We also had guacamole dip like you've never seen, WOW, they grow them down here and they are amazing! they cut it up in front of you, add lime juice, and you go at it YUMMO. Sweet William couldn't get out of the nation,IE(TACO BELL) so he had 2 tacos, 2 enchiladas, and extra beans, not rice. Our friend Carol had Chicken Azteca, with green sauce, and it was really good too. For those who like shrimp cocktails, you never ate one like these, they FILL the glass with medium size shrimp, chopped tomatoes & onion, and avocado, and when you get it you put lime juice on it, and OH MY!! A small one is only $2.95 , Med.$3.95, and Large, which is HUGE, is only $5.95. THEN: for dessert, we got a Flan, which is like a custard, MMMMmmmmmm, widen your doors girls I will be coming home soon, and will have to enter sideways if I don't get out of here soon! HA! None of the food was real spicy, they knew we were Gringos, so it was great!
We got up this morning to head for Bowie, that's a loong story in itself, had Whody all ready to hook up the car, and discovered the car had a flat tire, so backed Whody into her spot, went and got the tire fixed, (2hrs), so decided to leave in the morning. I was gona go shopping at Wal~mart, but will wait until we get away from "little Mexico", the mexicans that come across the border are so rude, they will pop into your parking space, even tho. you have waited forever to get one, they push you around in the store, and their kids are wonderful, YEAH, RIGHT! They run around the store yelling and screaming, opening whatever they want and eating it right there, you know they don't pay, you can't tell it irritates me now, can you????? It really is a place that I wouldn't want to live, that's for sure, I probably would either be in the local jail, or the nut house!!!!
Well Bill, Sassy & I will be on the road again tomorrow, and I will be more faithful in doing my blog, and hopefully I can catch up on some of the pictures, I have quite a few......So in the meantime, Love ya all and miss ya too! Smiles, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
