Algodones, Mexico

Hi, hang on, here we go to Mexico, but first, we didn't see the drive in for parking and we have to turn around, hang on, here we go!!!!
This was the first thing we noticed, garbage, more common in Texas borders than here.
This sign says "Welcome", but with all the unrest we heard about in Mexico, we were a little timid............AT FIRST...............
Then we saw the tourist door, they were very nice and gave us a map of the town, only problem.... It was all dentistas and pharmacias. HAHA
There's Sweet William saying "come on, quit taking pictures, let's go!"
Our first view of Los Algodones, Mexico..... the first person we saw & heard was yelling  "Purple, Purple, come to the Purple Pharmacy"..That is him down below!
I asked if I could take his picture, he said "Sure, I am a handsome hombre!!"
Wellllll.... One thing led to another and next thing I know these 2 were asking me to take their picture as well, and to take lotz of pictures to show that their town is a safe place for Americans, so they smiled and I took their picture! Friendly folks!Loved the color of this building, they do have a way with color, they love bright, happy colors and so do I. Hey, could  my heritage be wrong, maybe?
The next few pictures are just showing you what you see throughout the whole town, it is incredible, anything you want you will find here!   We came down 2 days in a row, and saw so many different things both times. Whew, what fun!!Purses and Scarves and Hats, OH MY!!
What you are looking at here are mostly table clothes, there are such beautiful lace ones, they are quite expensive, but they like to bargain with you and Bill loves to bargain.  Not me, I'm an, "OK, that price sounds fine" kinda gal, so we compromise, I find what I want, tell him and HE does the back and forth bargaining, one lady took what he offered and said, "Go away, don't come back again to me", but most don't feel that way.  Some won't come down in price but they will sell you 2 or 3 of the item for the same price, ?????
This is on the outside of the vendors, on the street, the only place someone isn't trying to sell you something, Most say "Hey Lady, what you lookin' for, you pick, your husband pay"!
Beautiful blankets. Stone Ants, look close! Soo cute, but didn't buy one.
This shop was the most incredible shop, beautiful glass everywhere, would like to have bought one of each, but Bill kept saying, we live in 40ft, no can find a place, sorry, sniff, sniff!
Beautiful Lamp shade, huh?
The metal work was wonderful, so colorful it almost takes your breath away!
For you fellows, this helicopter was made out of recycled materials from cars, etc. pretty cool!
Saw this poor dog and wanted a picture of him, just after I snapped the picture a lady said "That's  my dog, $5.00 for the picture! What, for a picture of a mangy dog?  Thank the Lord she was kidding!Asparagus, they sell a bundle for $3.00 or 2 for $5.00, I bought 2 and gave one to my friend Cindy. Her and Bob couldn't go to Mexico, no passport, sniff! Oh yes, they sell beautiful strawberries too.
I took this because I thought this young lady was quite pretty, they were smiling at a fella doing some funny things I guess, couldn't see him, Bill could, but said the guy was just acting goofy!
Then of course you know we HAD to stop for coffee and donut, notice I didn't say donuts, they were huge, so we shared, yummy too!
Whiles sitting eating our donut, right across the path from us was this sign, what a kick!  They had some really pretty stuff, but it was NOT Rodeo drive OR Wal~mart, trust me!  haha
Some more colorful buildings, love them!
This was a local restaurant, everything was so clean and nice, didn't eat down there because we got there early and left by noon.
This was the most incredible display of fiber flowers I saw, amazing how pretty the colors were and the variety of blooms, almost any flower you were looking for, the lady you see was busy making them when she wasn't selling them. Most sold for a dollar apiece, although one lady offered to sell us 8 for $1.00, guess I should have taken her up on it, right??
Here we are in a little sorta "town square" where you see a lot of the Americans gather to just sit and rest awhile............Dot E, bet this looks familiar! This fellow was playing several different wind instruments and selling his CD's, beautiful music!
This seemed like such a normal family, Gramma, Daughter, Granddaughter (hidden behind brother) and Grandson, the Mom seemed so sad and didn't make any flowers, but Gramma just kept working right along!
NOW......we are ready to go home, and here is just a portion of the line you get to stand in, I sat with all the goodies whiles Bill went to the back of the line.
Yippee, there he is, finally!  Only took 45min. the first time  and a little over an hour the next day. Not bad, have waited up to 2hrs in Progresso, Mex.
Not sure if we should all Mooo, or Whiny, we get to travel like a bunch of cattle through the turnstile, would love to whiny, but I'm more the MOooooo type!
These folks have the right idea, for a price you can get someone to take you right to the car lane and out, you still have to go through customs, you just get to do it sitting down, lazy bums, (snicker)  The fella hauling them is riding a bicycle, that's some leg power!!
Here we are almost to the turnstile and the line is getting longer and longer!
OOps pictures backwards, this was taken before the turnstile, we haven't even turned the corner, leave it to me to get things backward!
This is some 'Mucho Hombre', just had to add this, thought it was great!
While I was standing in line I saw a lot of these little birds, helped to while away the time when you weren't talking to someone, folks are really friendly whiles waiting, and LOVE to talk!  It was a lot of fun!
Here we are, through customs, almost out to the parking lot, and if you look close you will see that the line is waaaaaay back, Whew, glad we came out when we did, but can't wait until next year to go again, what a fun place!!!!!
Now we are heading  home, thought I would show you that you see all sorts of stuff down here, not in Mexico, this is in the USA, people are soooo clever, aren't they???
Well that's it for our Mexican journey, we had a ball, spent a little, but mostly enjoyed the goings on and the people.  Have to tell you about this one young man, as I was going down an isle there were 3 ladies coming towards me, he said to them "Hello beautiful ladies, what are you looking for today?"  They replied, "nothing", and moved on, then he said "I am not going to tell you ladies you are beautiful anymore, you don't buy nothing"!!  Me and my big mouth said, "that's what you get for lieing"!  He just busted out laughing and said" that's for sure!"  What a hoot, went back by him several times whiles looking at things and each time he would just laugh and laugh!!!
Soo now it is time to say Adios, see ya next time!  Love ,Hugs and Prayers to you all!  Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
