Here we are, back in Little Rock, Arkansas, and you are looking at the Big Dam Bridge, that is the name of it, I'm not cussin', thank you!!! It is a bike and walking path that goes over the Arkansas river and into Little Rock, approx. a 14mile ride or walk, up to 100 miles if you are up to it. This was so impressive to us, and as you can see it was a beautiful day for our walk.
This bridge is 14ft wide, has 670 ft of walled embankment, as well as 8 observation areas to just enjoy the view. It is 72 ft above the river upstream and 90 ft. above the river downstream. It has a 5% grade on the approach, both sides, and has 3million #'s of steel and 24million #'s concrete!!! Whoa, is that impressive or not, me thinks it is!
We took this picture of the parking lot, we were there before 9:30am, and when we came back this lot was completely full!
Here Sweet William and the Sassy are enjoying the flat part, and also the highest part! Sassy was a brave little girl, don't ya think?
We stood for a while and watched these fellas fish, and wal~la, they caught one! They were there when we got back too, still fishing. I loved all the work areas and took pictures, altho. I'm not sure just what this was.
Here is a picture of the locks, we really hoped to see it in use, but nope, not today. We were there for several hours, just being tourist, it was great!
Here we are starting back, you can see the 5% grade. It was a fun walk and we met lotz of folks who walk it everyday. Some come all the way from town. There were folks running, walking, jogging ,bicycling, just walking their dogs, you name it, folks were doing it.
Here is the bridge I was talking about earlier, Bill and I planned to walk this one too, but after walking the whole river front and the Big Dam Bridge, we stood at the entry way, looked at all those stairs and said, "maybe next time Little Rock, bye for this time"!!!! Sassy agreed with our decision, and we hadn't even started the car before she was sacked out on Bills sweatshirt, she was 'dog tired' and ready to rest. She slept all the way home, and hit the bed when she got there! HAHA Sorry I am so lacks with the blog, will do one about here (Pharr, Tx) next time, and will try to show you a little of what we do around here. It isn't much, we sorta get lazy and just sit outside and enjoy the sunshine, visit with friends, you know retired folks stuff! So keep checking , ya never know about us! Hugs, Smiles and prayers to you all. Arlette & Bill too, and the pooped pup, Sassy
