Well, how do you do??  Below are some pictures from Washington DC, the hardest part was getting to and from, we were told to go on the Metro, pictures below, and only after we were on it,(Blue line to Smithsonian) riding along happily, and it all of a sudden got dark, did we know it went underground !  Bill thought he was sitting next to an Octopus, I grabbed him and held on tight.  I am claustrophobic, have been working on it, but this caught me off guard.  We got off were we should and I knew the only way home was back the way I came, when the time came I got right on, set down, closed my eyes & held on.  It did get easier, but never got fun.  At night it was so crowded you had to pull your fee under you or get tromped on, 'Oh bother'! Sometimes it took longer to get home through traffic then by Metro, what a mess of vehicles! Yowza!!
What a magnificent place DC is tho, so much history you would have to live here, and even then doubt you could see it all.  We went to as many of the Smithsonians as we were interested in or could, there were many, went to Arlington National Cemetery,(pictures below) that tugs at your heart, saw the Vietnam memorial, another tug, but for some reason the tears came from me at the Lincoln Memorial, always loved 'ol Abe, and standing there looking at that statue really tugged at my heart.  There were many things written about him on the walls, one was the Gettysburg address, had learned that at one time in my life, can't remember it now!!  Went to the capital, the white house, fenced and Security guards hovering, and the Washington Monument, didn't go in, had to be there by 8:30am, first come first serve for tickets, there were folks sitting there at 5am, nuh uuh, not me, I love history but not to get up that early!!
I only put a few pictures on and already the blog has told me I can't put anymore on until next month, I can't wait that long, soooo here we go again, might try setting up another blog, if so will let you know, OK?  Anyway.... what an experience this has been, I think every person should visit this area and learn how hard it was  acquire and to hold on to the freedom we have.  We have been to so many places, and have so many more to go. Let me tell you, some of the people here are very interesting.  You see all kinds of dress, even saw a man dressed as an Aborigine, walking stick, loin clothe and all, just sitting on a bench by the capital building,  he had white hair and a white beard, every race, creed and color are to be found here, it was super!  Our food choices got better as we went along, if you are ever there, go to the Ronald Reagan building, good food, good prices, or go to the Union Station, any kind of food, any way you want, is there, and what a magnificent place, just think how many of our service men went through here on the train, not to mention the people!  I could go on and on, but don't want to get boring, I tend to do that ya know!!!!  Oh yes, the architecture, WOW, that is all I can say, so many old and beautiful buildings in one place was just a big WOW to us, sometimes, when we couldn't walk any more we sat down and just looked at the buildings and the beauty here, it is a well kept up, and a place all Americans can be proud of. It isn't large, but unless you are a good walker,(Donna, you would make it all over town), you need to take one of the tour buses, we took a little open window one over to Arlington and around town the 2nd day to see everything we could see, it was only $35 for 2 days for each of us and was well worth it!  They also had bicycles equipped like rickshaws, but I would have felt sorry for anyone having to paddle my  hineybumper around, so we passed on that.    First day paid $3.00 for a bottle of water, the next 3 days, we froze water in half of our own bottles and carried them with us, it was hot, so the really cold water was great.
Well folks, that's all I can think of to tell you about, the pictures underneath this blog tell a little about what things are, so until I can get more pictures on I will just keep babbling, like a big brook, telling you about our goings and comings.  Headed for Fredricksburg tomorrow, and as far as we can go in that direction, so come on back, will do pictures again when I can.
Hugs & prayers to all, Arlette & Bill too, and the unhappy Sassy, to HOT!!!!!
