Hi, not gona get pictures on here tonight, sorry , was anxious to show you my adorable Great~grandkids and my beautiful Granddaughter and her handsome new hubby, but we are in a small town in California, and no luck, maybe tomorrow night. Meanwhile.........
Left Baker City about noon on Monday, expecting to be somewhere near Corvallis by nightfall, have breakfast with Bills brother John and Sister in law Sarah, then head down through California and warm weather, NOT!! Whody decided to quit on us, yep, she decided she was just to blamed tired to keep running, let me tell you what, with no power, coming down a long hill like that, sorta makes ya a little freaky, to say the least, talk about belly flops,it kinda takes yer breath away!! As we neared the bottom, Bill got her started again, but couldn't get her RPMs over 900, which means about 5mph, so here we were, a big silver Tortuga(turtle), chugging along. We knew there was a fella in Pendleton who could give us some advice, so we chugged along until we entered the town.Got off the freeway at the 2nd exit, Bill, not knowing for sure what was wrong, looks at me with a big ole grin and says, do ya think we can make it through town? It made me laugh, and I said SURE, go for it! We made it, unhooked the Suzuki, went and got the man to look at her, his diagnosis was: Take it to the Cummins dealer, your pump needs to be rebuilt, or you need a new one, YEAH RIGHT, we just had that pump re calibrated, (whatever the heck that is), so Bill called the guy, who is in Battleground,Wa., and he says, pull it off, bring it down, we'll see what is going on. Sooo, we packed a bag, left Pendleton at 11am, got into Battleground at 4pm, the guy found the trouble and we were on our way back to Whody by 5:30pm and home by 10pm, not bad, didn't have to stay in a nasty motel or nuthin'!!!!!Seems there is a governor in that pump and something had fallen off to make it go that slow, now fellas, don't ask me to explain that, I just know we are thanking the Lord, because this could have happened anywhere, and that means just that, we've been clear down to Louisiana since we put this engine in, and then it woulda cost us an arm and a leg, I got lotza leg, but not as much as that! For once I am so glad that Bill took it to that feller to be re~calibrated, cause now we are down near Sacramento California, where the weather is much warmer, in the 50's at night, and we really like that!!
So now the new journey begins, so come on along, are headed for the Mohave desert, and Ruby I promise, no snakes, and Dot,if I see a gecko, I'll put him on for you, OK?? I'll even ask if he works for Geico! Gonna go for this time, hope to get pictures on tomorrow.
Love, Prayers and Smiles to you all, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
