May 19th 47th Anniversary

See.....Bill is smooching with a blond, see picture below, and you will understand. I got the horse! Go figure!!!

This is how we started our day, with Jack, the driver, and Jake, the horse. Jack said He didn't mind being called Jack, but Jack sure didn't like being called Jack. They were an incredible pair and did a super job of showing us some of Natchez. The weather was incredible, we climbed aboard, so come on along!

I really admired Jake, so asked if I could get my picture taken with him, Isn't he cute?? Notice, my hair is almost blond, natural too! Finally!!! After all, Bill prefers blonde, as you will see ! HAHA, Actually, the picture is above, lost it, so put it back on up there!

Don't ya just love this, fans, outside on every balcony! The southern way I'm told, and in the campgrounds you see HUGE box fans big enough to blow you away, but what it really does is blow away all those nasty bugs!!

This is the Eola Inn, the oldest one in Natchez, this is where the fans were! This hotel has been through so many storms and it is still here!

This was a plantation called "Stanton Hall", it was so beautiful, the grounds were impeccable. We were told that "Ever Southern Baelle"wants to be wed here, and IF Big Daddy has enough bucks it can happen. However, the fancy horse and carriage, with flowers alone,"Starts" at $1000, If you want to go anywhere else, the price goes up! Well "Sho 'nuff Honey Chile, ma daddy woulda saed, RUN AWAY!," how 'bout ya'll? All the fancy stuff & price and most don't stay married even a year! Words from Jack!!!!

This was a nothing house, but I thought it was pretty with all the scroll work. There were several smaller houses with black scroll work as well , and they was purty!!

THEN.......We went out to eat, Isn't he cute?

This guy below looks like He might be a cousin from Texas with those boots, do ya think????

No, No Ice Cream for us!!!!

This is what I had, a pulled pork BBQ sandwich, it came with 2 sides, I chose black~bean and corn salad, Whoo~hoo, spicy, and cold slaw, helped cool it down,(a bit!) Bill had the pork BBQ too, but took fries and coleslaw, the coward!!

We told the waitress we were from Oregon, and her comment was, "Well, ya'll ha' ne'er had GOOD BBQ now ha' ya? I said "We'll see", however it was really tasty, the sauce was just a bit spicy, but not to bad! On top of that, it was recommended by Jack!

There were signs all over this cafe that were just fuu~nny!!

The crew was lotz of fun, and you could tell the customers came back time after time. Fun to eat in the local places! You get the feel of the town. Love that!

This was the Presbyterian Church, we went in to see the beautiful sanctuary and ended up getting a FREE concert of sorts. Four people, 3 gals and a guy sang their little hearts out. From Opera to the 40's music, and did it with such flair that it was magnificent!! They were from all over the USA, and Canada!

This house was the house of a 'Freed' slave who became a barber, made a lot of money for a black man in that era, and he actually had slaves of his own! He was shot in the back and killed at the age of 43, but the white man who killed him was not prosecuted because the only one who saw him do it was the black mans son, being black, he was not allowed to testify! He left $30,ooo, a HUGE amount, his wife not only finished raising her family, but invested the money, good woman!

The bottom floor, linoleum, was the entry way in the house above, and the top was a woven "clothtype" fabric that was made in about 4ft wide strips and sewn together to make a carpet, sorta interesting and different!

The detail in this church was truly amazing. It was a Catholic Church in Natchez. The stained glass windows were extremely detailed and quite beautiful. If I get a better place to put on pictures I will stick one on and tell you about it,if I don't fergit! OK?

In most every town we have gone to I have shown you the "tourist side" and once again, here is the real side of Natchez. This was actually well taken care of compared to the other places around it, and I loved the color!

This place was called Dunleith, I just couldn't help putting it on because I LOVED the pillars! It is farther out of town, so has many acres , unlike the one in town. It sho~nuff is purty, and ahm shoore a few of the Southern Baells would settle for this place too!

We had such a wonderful day, went home about 5:30pm to potty the Sassy, then headed out to have dinner in a somewhat "Nice" restaurant, went to a river boat, it was a buffet, went across the street to the Magnolia Restaurant, "Closed on Tues.", went to one that someone suggested, it was a real dirty looking place, and by this time we were starving, so guess where we had dinner for our 47th anniversary, AT HOME, WE GOT TAKE OUT from Popeyes Chicken! It was really good chicken, actually better than Kentucky Kluck, not near as greasy either! All in all it was a perfect day for us!

Well folks, that's it for this time, will put on another one, they may be stacked, but want to do them when I can so you can go with us, so chins up, keep those feets movin'! Smiles, Prayers, Love & Hugs, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
