Howdy to all of you, again!

This is a park that Bill and I "dry camped" in, It was free, a very good price, and really secluded even tho. we were just off the Trace.

As I have said before, you meet the most interestin' folks doing this, the couple below were on a Harley, and were from Alabama. They had been all over this area and were quite willing to tell us all about it, ya'll! If'n ya'll wi go dawn dis paph hare, ya'll see sech purdy thangs". They were both so sweet, but very hard to understand, and us OLD folks really had to listen up!

Don't have a clue why this picture came out sideways, so crane your neck and take a look.

These folks were from Colorado, and had been in every state in the USA, both were in their late 70's, and headed for Connecticut to visit with an elderly sibling. We crossed each other for about 50mi., and ended up in this camp. They were so nice, they waited until we found a level spot for Whody,(wasn't level at all, really) cause they could park anywhere. SEE, folks are sooo nice out here.

We decided to take the trail up to the summit, pant, pant, wheeze, about a half mile, (I know, I'm still a pansy) all up hill,It was, for the most part like being in the woods years ago, not the whole way had stairs.

Don't have a clue what this is, but it was all over, and quite pretty.

This was the scene when you got to the top. To look out on this you would NEVER know there are houses, farms, towns, railroads and freeways out there! AMAZING!!!!!

HOWEVER, there were so many bugs, I really got chewed,Bill got a bunch too, could have driven to this very spot, but it wouldn't have been near enough fun, we love our paths!!!

This is showing you the bug bites I got on the path, they swelled up even bigger as the day went on, and itch? Shades of CHIGGERS!At least this time Bill got a few bites too! As you can see am getting pretty gray, all vanity is gone, don't wear make up much either, the humidity just melts it right off.

!

The Bynum Mounds were hill like things where the Indians buried their dead. There were several around here, I just showed you a few. Each person is buried in a circle, just like you were building a round house, weird, but interesting.

We also walked around this path, a few bugs, but not like the place before!

If anyone knows why these keep coming out sideways, let me know, they aren't on the computer that way!!
When we pulled into Bynum Mounds, we walked almost the whole way around with Sassy off the leash, then realized there were 3 pretty good sized dogs, just lying on the ground at the entry way looking at us. We picked Sass up, then I called the dogs, one came to me, a beautiful red puppy, probably about 9mo. or so, I went to pet him, he was friendly, but on the top of his head he had an awful sore, so patted him under the chin. The other 2 dogs didn't move. We thought perhaps they were strays, and I couldn't stand to just leave them, so called the Emergency line for the Trace, told them about the dogs, and the lady said they get many calls about these dogs, same description, and that there was a house close by, but this was a favorite, cool place for them. I told her about the sore on the one dogs head, she also knew about that, said he was taking antibiotics for it. WHEW we both felt much better about leaving.

Now this looks like water I could splash around in, it was clear and clean. Funny, it was only about 15miles from "ole dirty"! Aren't the clouds and the sky amazing????

When we looked over this valley, we were just amazed at the farming country we saw, although we didn't see the black soil, we saw a LOT of what we thought was farm land, then learned it was being used for cattle. Guess cows and horses have to eat too, huh?

The hay you see in the bottom of the picture was one of many that we saw on our way down the Trace!

NOW......Ya wanna talk about hay, when we came upon this fella, we thought He had lost most of his hay, cause they had traffic stopped in both directions. BUT...This is what they put on the sides of the highway to keep it moist so that the grass will grow. They drop off the bales, then as you will see below, they BLOW the hay to the side of the road. They even have a special machine to do it. When we went by was about when this guy decided to start blowing, and Bill was just a little miffed because he had just finished washing Whody, but we hurried on by anyway. When we finally settled down in our campground, Bill went to look to see if we had gotten any hay stuck anywhere, and YEP... Right in Whodys radiator, like we need more heating problems. But did get it out, so now we can head on down the road!

Interesting machine, HUH??
See ya next time, Smiles, Hugs and Prayers, Arlette & Bill too,and the Sassy
