Howdy, ya'll

Hey, do ya know where we are????? By tomorrow night we will be out of Texas, yahoo, I really liked Louisiana, but Texas is a bit of a difference! The last few days, starting Friday, has been a mixture of weird, funny, thankfulness & awe! I do apologize if I confused anyone, and will try,(the key word) to explain. If you remember the old song on HEE~HAW, "gloom despair, and agony on me", well that's the way we feel when things happen to us, but God has been so good to us, THINGS can be fixed, replaced, done without, but people can't, so are glad that what has happened to us are just things!! After we got settled in a motel on Friday night, I got on this machine, and found a fella that had the parts we needed to fix Whodys foot! She really messed it up, had to replace the whole inner works, but now she flies down the road again! I felt so sorry for Bill, Friday it was 104, and he was working in the sun, I kept giving him water and a cool washcloth for his head and face. Saturday we went to Mineral Springs, TX. and got the part, it was about 90miles from Waco, but we made it a "day out", and even ate out at a place called "Cross Roads Cafe", I hope to get pictures on, but don't count on it! We weren't sure if we wanted to go in, it was in the middle of nowhere, and not grand looking, but when we went in the owner was sitting at a table and said "Howdy ya'll" Jist have a set an awl call yer waitriss ova. Are special taday is BBQ ribs with tater salad, baked beans, and one tahme through the salad ba for $6.95, and they is the best reebs ya ever et, Ah promise! Sooo, we indulged, and she was soo right about the ribs, the salad bar was very clean, but had about 6 things on it besides the salad, most of which Bill didn't like. The "Baked beans were canned pork n beans, and the potato salad was more mashed potatoes, but WOW were those ribs wonderful!! We were eating away, and little by little the place filled up. Everybody knew everybody, they were all laughing and talking, and it was fun to watch what we called a '50's neighborhood where you all knew each other and cared about each other!! Don't see that much any more!!
Got the parts that we needed, and headed back to Waco, and had to spend Sat. & Sun. night in a motel, YUKKKY. But we did survive. By the time we got in to Whody on Monday morning, our inverter had shut off, and we lost everything in the refer., but the freezer was still OK, did loose the ice cream. Sooo, once again, at 8am, at 85*, Bill went to work putting Whody back together . At noon they kicked me out of the motel, I went over to Peterbuilt , and Bill was done,99*, we headed out, me ahead of him, and stopped at the nearest RV place, hooked the ole gal up to electricity, everything works, YAHOO, got the refer cleaned out and the inside of Whody cooled off, ate dinner and hit the sack, in our own home, in our own bed!!! It was grand!!!
Got up this morning all excited, and stopped and got fuel, only $4.19 for diesel,SUPER, then went to have the same guy I talked about before look to see if he could tell what was wrong with Whodys heart, and he didn't say anything more than Bill already knew, so here we are in Vernon, Tx., ate dinner, went for a swim, and now here I sit writing to you!! Exciting, Huh? But that is retirement, and we have had enough excitement for a while, don't ya think?? Gona see about putting on some pictures of Pharr, so see ya, ya'll! Last time I get to say that!! By tomorrow we should be in Colorado, WhooHOOOO, cooler weather, can't wait!
So, Smiles, and love to all, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy
PS: Went to Wal~mart too, it was so nice to hear people actually speaking our language, English, and not getting pushed around! Am I bad?? probably, but it was true!!
