Howdy ya'll

We also visited the "Natches" Indian Museum, it was small,, but very informative. This was one of their homes, the little thatched thangy was where they hung game, and the flat thangy was where they dried their corn. There was a "mound" about 50ft away from this, and each time they appointed a new chief, the old chiefs house was demolished and covered with dirt, and the new chiefs house was built on top of that. It was a really big mound too!!
This was a huge tree and a branch had grown down to the ground and taken root from there. It had formed its own little tree. Well, I thought it was cool!! This is a bit backward, but keep going to the bottom. Thanks!

This building looked like it was old and all boarded up, then along comes this guy, unlocks the door and goes in, it was his home, but was in a town that wasn't to safe I guess, he took no chances! Ain't ma hunny cute?

Bill and I aren't really sure we remember, but think this is a funeral home. We have found that no matter what the neighborhood looks like, these are always immaculate!

Aur Suthern dream home in Mississipp. New Roads, Miss. to be exact! Funny, I remember when Whody looked like this, just bare bones, and look at 'er now!

And this was WAAYYY cool, these steps were there so that when you pulled the carriage up to the front, the ladies could get out and just walk down the stairs to the front door. They were made of marble, pretty neato, huh?

Bill like the architecture of this Church, it was really unique.

Here's Bill, being the "MASSA" of his own Plantation. 1500acres of cotton, corn & sugar cane. That is until the Civil war!

This "laysone'", it's just a patio to us po folk, is in front of the servants quarter, and are often used for weddings and such now.

These Huge cauldrons are everywhere down here, and still don't know what they were used for, perhaps cooking or water for washing clothes?

This I took for my Sister-in-law Sarah, although it is spelled wrong, this was a beautiful area! JUST LIKE HER!!!!

This was "Miss Precious" she, after sniffing under the bushes and moseying around, honored us with a sweet look, "you can take my picture NOW" attitude. You see she is the one that REALLY owns the plantation house!

This is the only Antebellum house we visited, it was really amazing, but like I said, there were 3 floors, and we only got to see 4 rooms on the main floor. We were bummed out, gona check more carefully next time!

I loved the gingerbread on this house, it is seen a lot in the homes in Louisiana.

In order to get down to the Riverboat and the water front, you had to go off the "Cliff" we weren't to sure about it, but it turned out OK, sure wouldn't want to take Whody down there, plum scary!

The Cemetery's are mostly all like this, guess they don't like bein' "put under", not sure why!

This is the Big window on the side, of the boat, you could see to forever!!, Can't wait to really ride on one! YOWZA!!

This is the restaurant inside the riverboat, it wasn't open yet dad-burnit!!

I was SOOOO excited when we saw this sign, and boy,OOPS, ya don't say that word in 'Ol Mississip., Never thought I'd ever see this state, and it was really grand for both of us!

Some more of the Cement yard, Amazing, Huh?

The Riverboat we just visited, it was a Casino boat, had all the stuff needed to go on the river, but it NEVER moves!

Some of the Local flavor!

As we were drivin' around I saw this rally purdy cow, and had to "Moo" at her to get her to look. So??? I LOVE cows, this one looked like it had on mascara!Try that wif, hooves folks!

This was a "Cement", Statue place, they had all sorts of Animals and lotz of interestin' stuff!! Note how the shutters close on this house. Not side to side, but as you can see, they do not allow the windows to be exposed at all. Good for hurricane weather, but it would DRIVE ME NUTS! you couldn't see out the blasted windows! Saw 2 houses this way!

Yeah, bet 99% of you guessed the answer to the last blog, and NO...to my Sister Gin, you Don't get a prize! We decided to take a little trip to see the town of Natchez, Miss. It bein' only about 90miles away,as the crow flys! However, we got so carried away with all the side trips that it was 3:30pm by the time we got there, but went through, or, if you call seeing 4 rooms seeing an old Plantation house, and went on a Mississippi gambling boat, WOW, and it was time to go home. However, on the way up we went on the Muddy Mississippi on a ferry! That really is a BIG 'Ol river Aw says der! Bill wondered how it must have felt to go up it in a canoe, and camp alongside the river at night! Had to be a bit scary, at least for us city slickers, but back in dem dase it was all ya'll knew, jest think how scary it would be fer to drawv on dem dere free-ways taday! Whew!
Theres 'Ole Bill takin' a walk on the Ferry, just wonderin' how ol Huck Finn felt! I really was amazing to us, never being near the Mississip., to actually be on it. Was sorta spendy to do this, over and back cost us $1.oo Gottcha!!!
Well folks Ahm gittin' matee taerd, so will sign off for now. Bill just asked me if I told you folks about comin' inta BatonRouge, and his bridge, Nope plum fergot, so tomarra I will do that, with pictures of our camp and where 'ol Whody is sittin. So "Hey, ya'll, see ya latter! Yer everlovin' Louisiana Belle, "DING DONG" signin' off until next tahme! Love ya & Smiles, Arlette & Bill too, and the Sassy

I am gona put the pictures on whiles I can, and will try to explain them. Hope you all can figer 'em out! The building you see is Mammys cupboard. It is a restaurant that is open for Lunch, Tuesday through Saturday, and the next time we go to Natchez we are gona stop and taste some of the" Quizeene"We had already eaten before we got there, but next time will be different, cause they have homemade bread, YUMMMY!!!!!
