Howdy ya'all, Well blast it I'm only 45min from the Texas border, and I'm workin' up to it! Ha We are in Tucumcari, and the story involving its name is to funny to really be true, honest. Its about an Apache Chief who was dieing, and wanted to pick a successor, and that man would also be able to marry his daughter, nameed Kari, one braves name was Tonopah, the other Tocom, Long story made short, Kari loved Tocom, but Tonopah killed him, and Kari killed Tonopah, then herself, and when Chief Wautonomah, seeing that his beloved daughter and favorite brave were dead ,hollered" Oh no Tocom-Kari, "and killed himself with the same knife! Thus the name, albeit changed to Tucumcari in later years. Now I ask you, does that sound like a brave Apache Chief???? A question to ponder folks!
Left Albuquerque about 10:30 am and headed as far as we wanted to drive, Whody running like a charm because of the magic of Dr. Bill, so we were going along at quite a nice clip, then decided to get fuel, it being slightly less expensive at a station just ahead of us, $4.07 gulp! We pulled off, filled up, then headed out again. Of course I checked to see that everything was fastened tightly, it was, just started up on the freeway, quite a turn, and then we heard a BIGGGgg crash, only to look back to see the refrigerator , not only kissing the counter, she had opened up, lock broken, and bungee off. Food going everywhere, Bill pulled off as soon as he could, whiles I went back to try to clean up. Some of the contents included 3dozen eggs, just recently purchased, as well as the usual stuff. For some reason it just cracked me up! A picture would have been hilarious! Bill runs back to help me, food is everywhere, hats, that are kept on top, some in the sink, some on the stove, I'm laughing like a fool, and Bill thinks I'm crying, so he trys to get me to let him clean-up , until he sees my face, then we both started laughing! Not a drop of anything was spilled, one container of scalloped potatoes was slightly broken, and 1, yes, that's ONE egg was broken, but not even badly, we put everything back in, and bungeed the fridge, and off we went again! After what we have gone through, THAT was just funny! We do have so much to thank the Lord for don't we? We are heading over the border into Texas tomorrow, but because our kids will be in Kansas at a conference, we are gona go slow and enjoy some more of our great USA! The country around here is so pretty, with all the rock and red dirt, and so far all the folks have been super. No pictures today, but look out for tomorrow, the scenery will be changing and my trigger finger will be busy I'm sure! Keep reading the BIL~LET saga, I'll report as much as I can, good or bad, cause we have sure had a little of both! Love & Smiles to all, Arlette & Bill too, and Sassy Frassy !
PS: I lied about pictures I do have a few! one of our campground, one of a sign that says "Oh no, we're going to Las Vegas again" not really it is LV, New Mexico, weird huh, and hopefully one of "Bills Auto Service" open from 11am to 4pm,no wonder it's no longer open, right? Bye They will be on a different post, forgot to take them off the camera, OOOPS gotta do that now, ya think???
