Howdy ya,ll, Hey I am in Texas ya know!!! We got here yesterday, with flying colors, really anxious to see the kids. Called our son, he gave us directions to the campus, and Bill says, "right, you need to come get me, this is really confusing!" So, staying on the phone, he guided us in and my oh my, it is nothing like I thought, it is 117acres in the middle of NOWHERE on gravel roads, up over railroad tracks, poor Whody, you could almost see her picking up her fender skirts saying Ewuuu, this is gross, my poor new shoes, you expect me to go THERE?, are you nuts????? But after a little coaxing she made it, even over 2 cattle guards and onto the campus next to the office. She is sitting in a really nice shaded spot, all hooked up to all she needs, so she is smiling,"I think anyway"!
After we got her settled our daughter-in-law Nanci had a great dinner waiting, and Bill got to see a lot of the campus, but I just read, walked and talked with my Grandkids, what a joy, they have all grown soo much, I loved it. Jeff & Nanci had a missionary conference to attend, so we joined in, got home about 9:30pm, before the kids, were in bed before they got here, and they got up and left at 3am this morning for Kansas to another conference, They are lotz younger than us old folks, wouldn't want to do that any more, for sure!!
Spent most of the day just looking around Bowie, what a contrast of lives we have found in Texas, and the people are as diverse as their homes, and really a friendly lot. We stopped at a Sonics for lunch, how cool, remember when the waitresses would come to your car when you went to a drive in?, well that's what they do at Sonics, no roller skates, and they don't use the little trays like they use to, but you still order and they bring it out, what a blast! Ain't gonna tell ya what we ate, but a hint, it wasn't good for us, but WAS IT GOOD, YUM!!
Don't have any pictures of today, but will put a few on (if I can, low Internet here) of yesterday and maybe the rest from the Cotton Gin place!
OH forgot to tell you about the special critters they have down here, LOTZ of 'em! RED ANTS!!!!!!!!!! And they hurt like all billy if you stand still on one of their adobe haciendas! WhichI did this afternoon whiles talking to a pretty calf out in the field. All of a sudden I felt a pinch, looked down and the blasted things were all over my foot, just enjoying my yummy flesh! I moved fast, got them all off, and yeoww, dabbed my foot and ankle with Listerine on a cottonball, and in about half an hour I was fine, nasty little boogers! I watch very careful where I step now, you can bet on that, and I don't feel so bad about the black ants that we have brought from Oregon, at least they don't bite! Well have gone on about enough for tonight, will see about those pics! Love to all, Gals, have a super luncheon, and have a bowl of clam chowder for me! Arlette & Bill too, and Sassy, who hates the pokeys in the grass cause they hurt her feet!
