WoW what a wild 2 days

Howdy all, and thank you so much for the cool comments, I love hearing from you too! We took off for Pendelton Monday morning at 7:15, YAWN, we're retired, what in the world are we doing up at this hour! Got to Pendleton about 8am, the guy at the shop helped us remove the generator so he could get into the engine, said it would probably be 6- 8 hrs (more or less) YA RIGHT! So we cheerfully take off for beautiful downtown Pendleton, me looking for a 2nd hand fat ladies shop and any used book store. i did have a certain shop in mind for clothes, nope, closed up last fall, so on we went, found a book store, nope didn't have the book we wanted, Now what do we do? For those who have ever been to Pendleton more than for the round-up, there ain't a heck of a lot to do but eat, drink an walk around town. We have been there many times, have already gone to the underground tours etc., so we just walked for about 2 hrs. Finally go to our car and headed out to just scout the out side of the town, So beautiful, sort of looks like a patch work quilt, but even the most devoted quilter tires of looking a t her quilt, so NOW WHAT?,can't stay in the bus, we are in a shop, The phone rings, it's the repair man, OH NO, something is wrong. Bill's face is draining of it's color, thinking about all the $$$$$ it is gona cost,we rush up as fast as we can, only to find one of the injectors was bad, easy fix, not a lot of cash, WHEW! Ate lunch, (cheap at home) Trying to decide what to do,we drove down to a little park by the rodeo grounds, Parked the car and just sat and watched the "people show". It was sooo funny. and entertaining, the last thing we would have done in our "other life" was waste time doing that, but what the heck, we're retired right? At 5pm we dutifully went back to the repair shop, Nope, not done, won't be until 9am in the morning We decided to go eat then try to find a Cheep, yes I spelled it right motel.Ate at a place called Roosters, Bill had a taco salad that looked like somebody already ate it,and I had pot roast, it was good, not Bills. Found a motel, not so cheap, get all settled, the TV remote doesn't work, Great, what else do you do in a motel room at our age? so I trudge down to the office and tell the gal, she says I'll see if it is just the batteries, if it's not "OH WELL" It worked but we got bored so were in bed by 9:30pm and asleep by 9:32! This not so cheep motel said they had a continental breakfast,7-9 we were there at 7:15am, locked up tight! Bill was starving cause He didn't eat much of his salad last night. Went and paid to eat, then YIPEE gona go get the bus and get on the road to BakerCity. Some of you know the story of our lives well, NOT GONA HAPPEN, least not when it should! At 11:33 we pulled out, headed for Baker City, headed down to get Diesel $3.62a gallon with our Safeway card, and yes, that is a really good price. Finally, headed for the big hill, a little bit scared of what to expect out of Whody, and the big old gal just flew up that hill at 40-45 miles an hour, super, right? Ya gotta be kidding, got about halfway up and she started getting hot, nothing that had to do with the repair shop, that's what Bill said, so pulled off in the nearest rest area and it started to cool down, WHEW, decided to go on the rest of the way up the hill and stop in Meachum to see our friend Darlene had a good visit, Whody cooled down with a little bit of water, and we head out again. READY TO GO DOWN????? Bill says "Oh great, the brakes aren't working",we are already on the down hill, can't stop now, This is bad, not good says Bill, me, the eternal optimist, I say, we'll be fine, he yells NO WE WON"T,HANG ON" You've heard of Mr toads wild ride,I braced myself, shut my mouth, He NEVER yells like that and we pray no one pulls in front of us cause even the jakes aren't working! God was good and kept everyone away from us and just as we hit the bottom the stupid jakes caught hold, We were fine, See I told ya! Bill was still white knuckled, but we continued on, made it to Baker City and are now sitting in a shop that belongs to our friends Don & Sharron Orr. Are checking everything, and hopefully be headed for Texas by the week-end! YEAH RIGHT!!!!! But we're retired right? Thanks for listening, probably won't write for the next few days, just repairing and gearing up for our next exciting thing! Jeff & Nan, we will get there, and before you leave, we promise!!!
